Integrating Magento 1 and 2 with ERP Systems
Magento offers significant features and functionality over other ecommerce online shops, for smaller businesses using Magento in a standalone environment is elegant as you can store prices, offers and stock locally without any issues, it is easy to manage and update.

Weblinc was initially developed back in 1999 when the internet was new to everyone, its main aim was to open up legacy systems to the web, initially targeting JBA (Infor) System 21 and Aurora ERP systems. Following the success of integrating these systems with websites, online shops, Weblinc expanded its ERP base to include many other ERP systems including SAP.
As the name explains, Weblinc (Web Link) automates transactions between an ERP system and your website. In most cases the interaction between the customer placing their order on your website and the despatch team picking and packing the goods for delivery requires no other human intervention, Weblinc posts the order directly into your ERP system.

Why Migrate from Magento 1 to Magento 2?
Migrating Magento 1 to Magento 2 has never been more pressing than it is today, Magento, now a wholly owned subsidiary of Adobe, announced last year that from June 2020 they will no longer support Magento 1.
You may already be working with a Magento developer who takes care of ensuring your website is always performing at its best, they probably apply all of Magento’s new version releases and security patches, therefore why would you be concerned if Magento 1 is no longer going to be supported after June 2020. You may be happy with the functionality that your Magento website currently provides and even if you wanted new functionality one of the extension/plugin developers are likely to deliver new functionality past this date!
The risk is not the loss of functionality, the risk is security. When Magento stop supporting the Magento 1 platform they will no longer provide any security patches, a service they provide continuously. In recent years more than 20 security updates have been released each year to keep your store safe from the dreaded hackers looking to get access to your customers’ details including credit cards.
The risk of not migrating to Magento 2 is clear, your website will be vulnerable and a target for hackers, especially after June 2020. Magento 2 has a lot more functionality built in, there is no need for as many extensions/plugins, but if you are already using Magento 1, you will likely have an extension already installed to deliver the functionality you need, therefore functionality is not so important.
The key reason for upgrading now is capacity, Magento 1 has a massive market share, Magento is now the dominant force in terms of eCommerce websites or stores, no other platform comes close. What this means is that the volume of businesses that will need their stores migrating to Magento 2 is enormous and there will not be enough credible Magento developers available to deliver all of the migration requirements of the market.
There will be many businesses spring up just to take a share of the available project work and income, but that is also a risk, in order to migrate from Magento 1 to Magento 2, you need to thoroughly understand what is required, businesses that have not developed or supported Magento stores in the past are unlikely to have the skills or knowledge to deliver a successful migration. We are already seeing a trend of businesses investing in a cheap migration only to realise when it is too late that the company they chose didn’t have the skills to deliver! A costly exercise as the migration in most cases has to be reworked from the start, effectively doubling the cost of migration.
There are a few tools available to help with migration, however, Magento 1 is a completely different platform to Magento 2, it is not an upgrade. Whilst the two platforms look similar, Magento 2 was developed from scratch and works in an entirely different way to Magento 1.
